As I have so often said, Whitman’s words are timeless. It is a sad and terrible fact that wars, around the World, continue to this day. What Whitman wrote of the Civil War 150 years ago is deeply moving and indubitably powerful; his words are as relevant and meaningful today about any war occurring around the globe.
